"Foot-and-mouth disease?? Enter AU"
Australian authorities have stepped up biosecurity measures and stepped up border checks, as foot-and-mouth disease has been detected in imported food, particularly from Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. Foot-and-mouth disease viruses are not only carried by live animals, but also in meat and dairy products, soil, bones, untreated hides, and vehicles and equipment that come into contact with infected animals. Due to increased scrutiny and disposal efforts, it is highly recommended to prevent food, protein powders and supplements from entering Australia in the coming months. Imported used agricultural equipment/parts and personal items may also face longer processing times. However, if it is necessary to ship the corresponding product to Australia, documents specific to the manufacturing declaration must be provided. On the other hand, please check the BICON website for any other requirements before shipping.
